One thing that makes June 15th a smoother process for everyone is having the correct contact information available for college coaches.
I can't tell you how many times I get parents that ask me, "Why are all of these college coaches texting me?"
Here are some ways to make sure college coaches have the correct contact info for you prior to June 15th: 1) Email College Coaches
Reach out to them. Be sure to put your correct contact information in your email signature. You can even tell them in the email, "I've included all my contact information at the bottom of this email." This is something that I mention all of the time - the best way to put yourself in front of college coaches is to reach out to them directly - and it's really one of the easiest ways to communicate interest in a school.
2) Update your University Athlete
This has been mentioned several times from recruiting coordinators I know across the country. Everyone has a UA account whether you know it or not. This is typically where college coaches are getting their contact information. It's going to be the first place they look and it's possibly where their recruit database is updated from regularly. If you have been getting emails or texts from schools about camp or being asked to fill out a questionnaire, they most likely using the UA database to get that info. Updating this info will make this process smoother and it's something even younger athletes should be doing.
3) Make sure your recruiting coordinator has your correct contact info
If you have someone like me at your club helping with your recruiting, make sure they have your correct contact information. I have mostly parent's contact info from the clubs I work with. I have athletes contact information for those athletes that reach out to me, but not all of them. College coaches will usually reach out to someone like myself to make sure they have the correct info for an athlete. We can only share with them the information that we have.
4) Check all of your profile pages
Lots of athletes have multiple profile pages. Your club page, your NCSA page, your SportsRecruits page or Hudl page are all options for college coaches at this point. Go through your current and past pages (even if you don't use them anymore) and try your best to make sure your contact information is updated. College coaches use Google also, usually to find film on athletes, so go ahead and google yourself to see what profile pages are showing up for them. Go through those as best as you can and update your contact information.
5) Fill-out their questionnaire
College coaches do like it when athletes they are interested in fill out their questionnaire. Usually these systems will automatically update contact information if you fill out a new questionnaire. It's an easy way to make sure they HAVE the correct contact info in their system. If you have a list of schools you are expecting to hear from on or around June 15th, I would encourage you to make sure and fill out their questionnaire with the pertinent information.
Making it easier for college coaches to get in touch with you will make your process smoother. No one wants to log into their rarely used email address in July and see a bunch of messages from college coaches. This is another proactive step you can take to minimize the bumps in your recruiting process.
