Only Posting On Social Media? Why This Doesn't Work for Volleyball
I'm a big fan of social media. It's a lot of fun in the majority of instances - arguing about silly things aside. I see a lot of volleyball-only Instagram accounts for athletes. As a general rule, there's nothing wrong with posting on your volleyball social media accounts, but for the majority of athletes. What you need to understand is that social media is probably not doing what you would like it to do for your athlete's recruiting process.

College Volleyball Recruiting: Why Good Advice Matters
If you spend any time on one of the many Volleyball FB groups, it's inevitable that someone will ask about a recruiting service, NCSA, or general college volleyball recruiting advice. I'm always amazed at two things: 1) the general advice that's given that may or may not apply to that person or may or may not actually be good advice, and 2) the number of people giving the "you don't need help" advice. I don't think that the sometimes bad advice is ill-intentioned. I don't thi

Volleyball Recruiting Advice for 8th Graders
I have no issue with parent's, families and athletes starting early with their recruiting process. I haven't had any 8th grade clients, but I have had plenty of 9th graders start the fall of their first high school season. It's different for all of them. Sometimes they are playing JV and other times they are actually able to start on their varsity team. It doesn't necessarily matter a ton, but the biggest thing is always growth. I've been able to respond to a few questio

Why Volleyball Coaches Don’t Respond During Fall Recruiting
Fall volleyball recruiting can be really difficult for many athletes when it comes to connecting with college coaches. Not only are athletes in the middle of their very competitive high school season, but they have to deal with academics, standardized testing, homecoming, relationships and everything else. On top of all that, athletes need to be sending emails to schools to try and get in front of college coaches; learn if their position is getting recruited; build relation

Volleyball Recruiting: How to Maximize Your Opportunities
I'm always kind of amazed at the advice I see given online in specific Facebook groups when it comes to volleyball recruiting opportunities. It is always made out to be a really simple process. In some ways they aren't wrong. Simple? Yes. Easy? No. The parts and pieces that are always missing in this "advice" are the specifics THAT(individual) athlete needs to be doing. Everyone's process is different. The two-week process that worked for one athlete and family, might

NCAA Volleyball Recruiting Questionnaire: What Athletes Need to Know
Over the summer, the NCAA made a decision that has gone mostly unnoticed on this side. I won't talk too much about the "why" behind the decision because that will more than likely take me down a giant rabbit hole that is not really beneficial at this point. The NCAA decided to change the rules surrounding the volleyball recruiting questionnaire. It went unnoticed because we had just moved to the other side of June 15th for 2026 class, so the impact for that class was nonexis

Club Volleyball Recruiting: Why Tournament Location Matters
I have this conversations with parents and even club coaches every season. Occasionally it happens at the beginning of the club year as a coach is planning their recruiting season. Usually it happens with parents after the fact. After they have finished all of their local tournaments and they are prepping for either AAUs in Orlando or wherever the USAV Championship is that year (this location also does matter a little bit). There are usually two trains of thought when it

Volleyball Recruiting: How First Impressions Impact Offers
First impressions in volleyball recruiting can make or break your chances with college coaches. Whether it’s your highlight film or how you present yourself on the court, those first few moments are often all a coach needs to decide if you’re a good fit for their program. While skill development and growth are important, never underestimate the power of making a strong first impression during the recruiting process. Let's talk about two specific instances where this seems to

Volleyball Recruiting: Why Following Up Gets You Noticed
Following up is one of the most overlooked keys to success in volleyball recruiting. If sending one more email or text could land you the offer you want, would you take that step? Too many athletes give up after a single attempt, assuming silence from a college coach means “no.” But in reality, consistent and proactive communication is what keeps you on a coach’s radar—and can set you apart from the thousands of other athletes hoping for that same opportunity.

Volleyball Recruiting: Should You Post Camp Photos Online?
Posting camp photos on social media has become a new trend in volleyball recruiting, but does it actually help your chances with college coaches? As more athletes share snapshots from camps and clinics online, it’s important to understand what these posts really communicate to coaches, other athletes, and your own recruiting journey. Before you hit “post,” let’s explore whether sharing camp photos is a smart move for your college volleyball recruiting process.

How important is a school's record when considering your college home?
No one likes losing. Most of us that play a competitive sport are just that, competitive. Losing is hard. It's draining mentally and physically for both players and coaches. I don't know any college coaches that are trying to lose either. Some teams have bigger hills to climb than others. It can sometimes take years to build a program and make it better. Typically good things don't happen overnight.
