Imagine With Me For Just a Moment
I was giving a recruiting seminar at a local high school this past week. I realized too late that I was giving a 9am seminar to a group of mostly freshmen and I include a bunch numbers and statistics. I tend to include a lot of statistics in my seminars because I think that it helps put recruiting into perspective. Apparently it was too early for math that morning! Imagine this:

Geography Is A Good Starting Point
...but don't put yourself inside a box. It can be a crutch sometimes when we focus too much on location. It's a great place to start, but it is also limiting. Just as an example, let's say you want to stay in and around Texas. For the most part we would start by looking at Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana schools. This gives us quite a few options from D1 all the way to NAIA. But how many options really?

Playing in the P5 in 2023
Now I know that some (a lot) of this is going to change with all the craziness happening with conference realignment right now - I don't think we are done yet! - But I wrote about this back in 2019 and so I wanted to revisit some of these statistics and see what has changed potentially. To get a reference point, you can go read my "Playing In The P5" blog HERE .

By The Numbers - The Next 5
Last time I looked specifically at where Texas athletes play relative to the Power 5 Conferences. This time I wanted to look at the Next 5 conferences. That is, the rest of the FBS schools to see if we see any change in the amount of athletes from the state of Texas in where they play. For a refresher, go check out the "By The Numbers" blog about the P5 schools HERE

By The Numbers: Playing in the Power 5
Usually when I am doing a recruiting seminar, I spend the majority of the time talking about D1 scholarships and how those numbers break down. I talk to a lot of parents that have athletes that can play in the Power 5 or they want to play in the Power 5. I thought I would run some numbers and try to show how difficult that task really is. *the Power 5 conferences are the SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12 and PAC 12 **I did round-up some of the answers to help keep the math simple
