The Lone Star Qualifier might not be the BIGGEST qualifier (It is 3 weekends though...), but for the club teams in Texas it certainly is the biggest. With so many college coaches coming to Dallas next weekend to recruit athletes from Texas and across the country, it will be a very very busy weekend.

I am a big fan of sending out emails to college coaches, especially if you're a sophomore. At this point, hopefully, you aren't sending out emails to college coaches for the first time. In any case, with the amount of teams participating and the amount of athletes that college coaches already have on their "watch list" it would be a great idea to start reaching out to schools now - or after you're done reading this blog.

I know there are lots of teams out right now competing in Chicago. There are a bunch of college coaches out recruiting as well. But with the influx of emails sure to occur this week, you aren't going to want to wait until Thursday or Friday to send those emails. I would try and do as many as you can between now and Tuesday. Again, hopefully you aren't sending your first or even second email out to schools at this point, but if you are in that category, it's even more important that you start sooner.

Don't think that emails are beneficial to your recruiting process?

How about this quote from a D1 coach last weekend:

"I'm way more likely to go watch a specific athlete if they email me, than I am to go watch an entire team."

Don't rely on your teammates to bring college coaches to your court. If you want them to evaluate YOU, then YOU need to email them.

Update Your UniversityAthlete account!

If you want to make sure college coaches have your correct contact info, make sure this is updated - it's what all the college coaches use.

Send Film!

If a college coach likes your film then you have a better chance of them coming by your court this upcoming weekend. Reach out again after the Qualifier!

Reaching out not through email is great. But remember, these coaches are watching a bunch of athletes over the course of 2-3 days. Stand out to them and give yourself a little name recognition by reaching out again ASAP after the qualifier with highlights from the previous weekend.

Remember, once you reach out to a coach, you will be in their system and schedule for the weekend. There is NO need to update them each day of the tournament with your new schedule and court times. Here is the link to the colleges attending Lone Star this coming weekend. Lone Star Qualifier
