How To Bring College Coaches To Your Court

I know this is a controversial topic right now, but...
They aren't coming because of your Instagram post.
I have no issue with athletes posting on social media. I have no issue with athletes posting their schedules on social media either.
What I DO have an issue with is athletes and families trying to replace sending emails with something else. There is no replacement.
Why isn't your social media post getting the attention you want it to get?
It doesn't show interest
It's not directed at them
I had a P5 assistant tell me last weekend while I was in Houston, "We usually spend most of our time evaluating the athletes that reach out to us directly." Another P5 assistant told me, 'Jason, I don't think these athletes understand that we would be more interested in them, if they just reached out to us."
One email. That's all it takes. I want you to send more than one email. In reality I want you to email college coaches throughout the entire club season:
Not just when you have new film
Not just the day before a qualifier
These coaches need to get to know you. They need to have you in the back of their mind as they watch other athletes at a qualifier you're not attending. Recruiting is a competition. You are trying to show college coaches:
Why you are a better athlete,
Why they should pick you
Why you have better leadership
Why you are more interested
Why you are a better teammate
You have to give yourself time to tell them about yourself. Let them watch you develop; whether we do that through film or in person, it doesn't always matter.
More importantly, have you explained to them why you are interested in their school?
This takes more than one email and this is usually something that you can't do at a qualifier. So how else are you going to explain it? Make a video? DM them on Instagram?
College coaches are going to pursue those athletes that are ALSO interested in them. Interest goes both ways.
How do you get schools to your court? You tell them to come watch you. Your schedule on Instagram doesn't tell them to come watch you. You need to be an athlete they are going to be interested in. You need to be someone that is going to help them win (youtube video below). If we need to add new schools to our list, we need to do that.
The goal is always finding a great fit!
How can you communicate your interest to coaches in these last two weeks of the club season!?!
