Amateurism in College Sports

Take a look at the article HERE.
It's not a stretch to say that college athletics is in an interesting position right now. Conferences are forming alliances with one another to put themselves in a better position to combat the others; the NCAA continues to show itself as unnecessary; and TV contracts prove themselves as the golden goose in all things college athletics again as even schools like Texas bail for more money.
These are the kinds of things to keep an eye on over the next several years. "College athletes should be able to major in professional sports" will quickly turn into "Why do pre-professional athletes need to be taking classes?"
The article is pretty simple, but it's the last paragraph that stands out the most.
"With NIL laws in place, the facade of complete amateurism is gone. Now the federal government and the National Labor Relations Board are focusing on the labor rights of athletes. Schools need to stop pretending athletes are somehow both primarily there for an education and unable to prepare for a post-collegiate job. If anything, offering athletes a chance to learn how to be best prepared for a pro career would make college athletics even more desirable. After all, isn’t that the whole point of the NCAA?"
