Before and After a Qualifier

Making contact with college coaches is always important. There is ample time in-between qualifiers to contact college coaches as I talked about in "The Space Between..."

But who should you contact?

Luckily prior to most tournaments there is a list generated through University Athlete of college coaches that will be in attendance. This list is generally smaller prior to the event as many coaches don't purchase the tournament rosters until the day before or even the day of the qualifier. Many college coaches are going to a qualifier in back-to-back weekends so it can be difficult to catch them with an email. But it's worth the try!

I have included the links to both the Vegas/Red Rocks Qualifier (last weekend) and the Indy/Show Me Qualifier college coach lists. Whether you are playing this upcoming weekend or if you played last weekend, it always a good idea to touch base with coaches. You can send them an email and say, "I hope you had a great weekend in Vegas! Here are a few clips from the weekend." or you can say, "I'm excited to play in Indy this weekend!"

Either way, you are engaging and showing interest in the school. Now, you might not have your highlights finished from the whole weekend yet, as those can take a couple of days just to upload to Hudl. But if you were not able to send some emails off to college coaches prior to Las Vegas, reaching out to them quickly after the tournament is a good idea.

If you haven't reached out to schools yet and you're playing in Indy this weekend, try and do as much as you can today! You don't need to send emails to EVERY school. You need to send emails to the schools where you might be a good fit. Start there. It's more important to connect with those schools than it is your "reach schools" anyway.
