The Quiet Period ends today. But what changed from yesterday? As far as the athlete that is trying to get recruited, nothing has changed.

College coaches are always excited to get back out there and recruit athletes. You'll see a lot of posts and graphics on social media about where a particular staff is traveling to recruit. This is a great little tool for athletes to check and see if the schools you have been reaching out to are actually going to be where you are going to be this weekend.

There is always confusion around Dead and Quiet Periods. Many families think they THEY aren't allowed to send emails or that they can't call coaches. They think "quiet" means coaches aren't able to communicate. Well, we know from my previous blog posts and podcasts, that this is incorrect. What Is A Quiet Period?

Really the only thing that should change in the communication that an athlete is sending to D1 coaches with the end of the Quiet Period is, "I look forward to seeing you this weekend." Other than the change in verbiage, on the side of the athlete, nothing changes.

Athletes should have been communicating with college coaches throughout the quiet period. Updating them with new film; what's going on; where they went on Christmas vacation. The quiet period is ending today. That's great. How were you communicating prior to that to engage with college coaches and to make sure they were coming to watch YOU their first weekend out?

Younger athletes take note of this. There is plenty to do throughout the entire recruiting process. If a college coach is at home rather than out recruiting, there is still recruiting happening. They are still going through emails and evaluating film. Likewise, there is plenty for you to be doing. Send emails. Follow schools on social media. Expand your list of schools! Look for new opportunities to pursue your goal of playing college volleyball. Think about what you want to accomplish in your volleyball career.

Be proactive. Don't wait for the Quiet Period to end and hope coaches magically appear at your court. Control what you can control.

The D1 recruiting window is is only 10 weeks long. Then May is another Quiet Period. Take advantage of the time you have right now.
