Why Your Timeline Matters
The recruiting process for everyone can look really different. Some athletes are able to connect with the right school for the right situation very quickly and easily and other athletes might spend months just trying to connect with a coach.

Eggs and Baskets
You've certainly heard the phrase, "Don't put all of your eggs in one basket." This rule applies to college recruiting as well.

What is D1? - Part 2
Last week I talked about some of the issues surrounding this notion of Division 1 athletics. You can go HERE to read Part 1 of this post. The basic notion that I am trying to get across is that being "D1" doesn't automatically make you better than everyone else in the different divisions, far from it. There are plenty of levels throughout all of D1 volleyball and some of the differences conference to conference and program to program can be pretty drastic.

"I'm not a celebrity...I'm totally okay with that"
Don't let my 800 followers on Instagram fool you, but I'm not famous. While I'm out recruiting at a convention center, no one stops me...

What is D1? - Part 1
This is a topic that comes up a lot with college coaches. Not just D1 coaches either; I have similar discussions with D2 coaches as well. One college coach and I were talking about this from the D1 perspective. Specifically, "What makes a school/program Division 1?" It might seem like a simple question, but I think it's something we need to discuss openly more and more because I'm not sure we really understand the differences.

Create Goals For Yourself After High School
I'm not talking about having goals to get to a certain level or a certain college. I'm talking about making some goals for yourself ONCE you get to college.

Remember To Have Fun
As Triple Crown approaches and the D1 Quiet Period comes to an end, I think one of the biggest things to remember is to have fun .

The "Are You A Fit?" Checklist
*This ended up being less of a checklist. My goal is always to help parents and athletes with the recruiting process. I hope something like this is helpful as you evaluate where you want to play college volleyball. I'm not perfect by any means. There are lots of variables in recruiting - that is something that isn't necessarily mentioned in this post. If you've been around me the last 6 months you know that this is one of my soapboxes. I've talked about it with club coa

Recruiting Out Of Region
If you've been following along with the PRI Blog Pass the last couple of months I've been collecting data on where athletes in Texas are playing. I'm planning on doing a few more of those posts, because I think the information is interesting and worth pondering when you're thinking about WHERE you want to play or in WHAT conference. You can take a look at those posts HERE and HERE .

Waiting For Waiting's Sake
There is a huge difference between "passive" and "active" waiting when it comes to recruiting.

What Does Your Competition Look Like?
I throw a lot of statistics and numbers out there for parents and athletes. My goal in doing this is to help them understand the odds they are up against and just how difficult this process can be for some athletes. If you want to see some interesting numbers, make sure you subscribe to the "PRI Blog Pass" so you can take a look at some of the data I have been collecting on where athletes from Texas are playing volleyball.

What Can You Do Different?
I have an entire seminar structured around a Post-June 15th situation where you don't get any phone calls from coaches or you don't hear from the ones that you wanted to hear from. As MLK tournament weekends are really the start to the club season and Qualifier season is right around the corner, for those of you that are uncommitted it's potentially a good time to start looking at what you can do differently in your recruiting process.

By The Numbers - The Next 5
Last time I looked specifically at where Texas athletes play relative to the Power 5 Conferences. This time I wanted to look at the Next 5 conferences. That is, the rest of the FBS schools to see if we see any change in the amount of athletes from the state of Texas in where they play. For a refresher, go check out the "By The Numbers" blog about the P5 schools HERE

Why Do You Play?
Now, I don't watch football games anymore unless I get invited to a party of some sort. Still one of my favorite sports to watch on TV, but it's not really something I do anymore. I still love sports though! So when I heard that a tie between the Raiders and Chargers meant they would both make the playoffs, I was overly intrigued. The game being on Sunday Night Football I think added more to the intrigue. For me, the notion that the Broncos would be left out of the playo
