Some people out there might be talking about how "because of COVID," college coaches (D1 schools particularly) will be taking a slowed-down approach to recruiting the 2023 class. That when college coaches get on the phone with athletes on June 15th they will be in "no hurry" to make decisions on athletes because it has been so long since they have been able to watch them play.

Recruiting and being in the convention center all day was always one of my favorite parts in recruiting. Lots of volleyball and lots of really good volleyball.

As you know, D1 schools have been on a Dead Period for over a year at this point. D2 schools have been back to their normal recruiting calendar since the Fall; some people didn't realize that and it confuses some people. I have talked about this several times, so if you still have questions on that, please let me know, although hopefully those questions won't be needed here in a few months.

Well, we are here! 2021 has started and the club volleyball and recruiting season is upon us. It's actually weird for me to think back to last January and preparing for the 2020 club season and then, well, 2020 happened.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! I often talk to families that tell me "we don't have anything to email college coaches." Well, this week (or maybe last week) is possibly the easiest email of the year. No need to mention volleyball, or school, just a simple "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" and maybe even include a picture with you and your family by the tree, or even your dog (or cat) in a santa hat. I get it. There is a lot going on. College coaches across the country are trying everything they can do to simulate as much of a visit as they can, without actually having the athlete on a visit.
