If you follow any D1 programs or college coaches on social media, you might have noticed that they were excited to be out recruiting again this past weekend. Coaches traveled across the country for the first time in over a year. It's exciting to be back out recruiting for sure. Recruiting was one of my favorite pieces of coaching in college. I would definitely be excited to get on the road again if I had been stuck in a dead period for over a year.

I do a lot of "myth-busting" when it comes to recruiting. There is a lot of misinformation out there and it comes in all shapes and sizes. Often times it comes from sources you might not expect. Some people out there might be talking about how "because of COVID," college coaches (D1 schools particularly) will be taking a slowed-down approach to recruiting the 2023 class. That when college coaches get on the phone with athletes on June 15th they will be in "no hurry" to make decisions on athletes because it has been so long since they have been able to watch them play.

As you know, D1 schools have been on a Dead Period for over a year at this point. D2 schools have been back to their normal recruiting calendar since the Fall; some people didn't realize that and it confuses some people. I have talked about this several times, so if you still have questions on that, please let me know, although hopefully those questions won't be needed here in a few months.

Well, we are here! 2021 has started and the club volleyball and recruiting season is upon us. It's actually weird for me to think back to last January and preparing for the 2020 club season and then, well, 2020 happened.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! I often talk to families that tell me "we don't have anything to email college coaches." Well, this week (or maybe last week) is possibly the easiest email of the year. No need to mention volleyball, or school, just a simple "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" and maybe even include a picture with you and your family by the tree, or even your dog (or cat) in a santa hat. Really anything goes!
